Gemma and Aaron got married in May 2018 at the beautiful venue Coltsfoot Country Retreat set in the middle of the stunning Hertfordshire countryside. The ceremony was to take place in Coltsfoot’s outdoor area and Gemma wanted to create a backdrop inspired by the traditional flower garlands seen at Indian weddings, in a nod to Aaron’s family heritage. The result was an arch created with the natural shape and greenery of Beech branches onto which were tied beautiful, white delphiniums.
For the bridal party flowers, Gemma chose a fairly neutral palette of whites and soft pinks. For the bridal bouquet pink sweet avalanche roses were teamed with beautiful white peonies, peach stocks, pink astilbe, silver brunia, and white snapdragons, the bride’s favourite flower. The bouquet was finished with a band of pink satin ribbon, to which the bride added her own charms to commemorate her father. The bridesmaids’ bouquets complimented that of the bride with pink avalanche roses, white stocks, peach snapdragons, pink astilbe and a touch of delicate white gypsophila and eucalyptus foliage. A simple gypsophila posy and flower crown were made for the flower girl and a delicate band of gypsophila for the bride’s hair.
Finally, the groom and his groomsmen wore buttonholes made with pink avalanche roses, eucalyptus, silver brunia and a touch of white gypsophila.
For the table centres, Gemma wanted something that the guests could take home with them at the end of the day, as well as avoiding the wastage of using cut flowers. Wooden crates found by Gemma were planted with a mix of flowers, herbs and succulents for the guests’ tables, and a foliage garland interspersed with roses, stocks and snapdragons, was draped along the bride and groom’s table. Roses and eucalyptus foliage were also provided to decorate the cake table.
